Web Augustine is a long-time Bay Area resident currently living in Menlo Park, CA. After growing up
in Seattle, Web first came down to the Bay Area to attend Stanford University. After graduating in
1980 with a BS Mechanical Engineering degree, he headed back to the Northwest for a product
marketing position at Hewlett-Packard’s Vancouver, WA Printer Division. His career after that has
been exclusively working for and with startup companies.
Web is a Silicon Valley veteran with 25+ years of successful marketing, sales, consulting and
executive search experience. After being an extremely early contributor at Sun Microsystems (IPO)
and MIPS Computer Systems (IPO, then acquired by SGI), Web was VP of Marketing and Sales at
RSA Data Security (acquired by Security Dynamics). Web co-wrote the Business Plan, led the Series
A fundraising effort and was the founding VP of Marketing and Business Development at VeriSign
(IPO), which went on to have a $40B+ market cap in the late 1990s.
Web is currently CEO at HiWire (www.hiwire.com), an innovative boutique services company focused
on helping very early-stage Bay Area companies prepare for successful fundraising and finding
startups of all sizes find just the right executives to enhance their core management teams. Prior to
founding HiWire in 2006, Web spent many years working with early-stage companies as CEO and
Founder at Strategic Web Ventures, a marketing consulting firm that also provided fundraising
experience.
In his spare time, Web enjoys spending time with his family, skiing, tennis, golf, day hikes, collecting
art, coins and minerals, watching Stanford sports, vacationing in the San Juan Islands and
weekends in the Naps, Sonoma and Dry Creek Valley wine country.
